On September 2, Laura De Jaeger's solo exhibition“I said nothing but tongue-tied simplicities: circled as though on a treadmill, or like a 10-ton truck lodged on a hill” opened at the Haapsalu City Gallery. The exhibition is supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia. Laura De Jaeger (1995) is an artist based between Tallinn (Estonia) and Brussels (Belgium). Her practice approaches objects and sites through rest, pausing, and boredom. She works with found objects, photo, video, and writing, often in an installative way. De Jaeger holds an MA in fine arts (LUCA), including an exchange at the sculpture and installation department from the Estonian Academy of Arts, and an MA in cultural studies (KU Leuven). Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Germany and Serbia. Alongside her practice, she writes about contemporary art, teaches at the Estonian Academy of Arts, and guides through exhibitions at WIELS (Belgium).
